According to a report on the website of the Indian weekly “The Week,” on January 8, 7th, a church under construction collapsed in Gohil, Sengareddy District, Telangana, India, killing one person and injuring nine others.

Video from the scene released by news agency Press Trust of India showed the injured being carried to safety above piles of collapsed building materials and rubble. The video also showed the injured being treated at Sengareddy Government Hospital.

According to reports, the accident occurred while workers were laying a concrete roof when a slab suddenly collapsed. After the accident, people working on the iron structure fell, and some workers working below were trapped in the rubble. Local media reported that many workers were seriously injured.

India Asia News International quoted Sengareddy Police Superintendent Rupesh as saying: “The incident occurred around noon on the 7th. One worker died in the accident, and one injured was seriously injured.”

The Press Trust of India said the worker who died was from Myanmar. Project engineers and contractors have been detained, the report added.
