What is Tin disulfide?

Tin disulfide - an inorganic compound that has a chemical formula of SnS2. It is a yellow hexagonal flake , with the CdI2 cristal structure. It isn't really soluble in water, but it is solubilized in aqua regia or hot alkaline solution, and additionally, it is soluble in sodium sulfur Solution, frequently used to create gold paint.

Tin disulfide is insoluble in the hot alkali solution. It also undergoes the coordination reaction in concentrated hydrochloric acid. However, it's unsoluble when dilute in hydrochloric acid, insoluble in water, and nitric acid. It is also capable of resolving when mixed with ammonium to dissolve.

Electrochemical properties of multi-walled carbon nitrotubes enclosed with tin disulfide used as the negative electrode for lithium ion battery

The direct current arc plasma method was employed to create multi-walled carbon carbon nanotube confined metal tin nanostructures (Sn@MWCNT) as a precursor in a methane-based atmosphere. SnS_2@MWCNT nanostructures were created by the sulfurization reaction. The results of the physical characterisation of the materials, such as Raman, Xray diffraction (XRD) as well as transmission electron microscopy (TEM) revealed that the length of the multi-walled carbon nanotubes was about 400nm, the surface carbon layer was crystallized with the thickness of carbon being approximately 10 nanometers. Lithium-ion batteries using Sn S2@MWCNT nanostructures as anode materials have relatively good electrochemical performance. The initial charging and discharging Coulomb efficacy is 71%, After 50 cycles, the power remains stable at 703 mAh?g-1. The high-capacity characteristics of SnS_2@MWCNT nanostructured electrodes come from the fact that a wide range different active materials are able to provide capacity in combination, and the reaction platform for each material is unique to each material.

Study on electrochemical performance of tin disulfide/single-walled carbon nanotube composite material used as anode material for lithium-ion battery

A novel composite of SnS2 with single-walled carbon Nanotubes (SWCNTs) is prepared using an easy solvothermal process. It was found to have high electrochemical efficiency after being applied to the negative electrode of the lithium Ion battery. At a very high current density of 1 A/g, after 100 cycles still retains a reversible capacity of 510 milliamps/g. For comparison, we used the same process to synthesize one SnS2 material and then conduct the electrochemical test on it. The results show that even though the initial capacity of the SnS2 material is rather large, the performance of its cycles is low, and will begin to decline after only 20 cycles. The exceptional capability of this hybrid material within lithium-ion batteries thought to be due to the synergy of the two substances comprising SnS2 along with SWCNTs.
