The Development Of The Nickel Market

wallpapers Tech 2021-01-21
Nickel is a transition metal element with element symbol Ni, located in group VIII of the fourth period, with atomic number 28. Nickel is a silver-white metal with good mechanical strength and ductility. It is insoluble in water and has strong corrosion resistance to acids and alkalis, but it is easily soluble in dilute nitric acid and aqua regia. High temperature resistance, melting point 1455 °C, boiling point 2730 °C. The density is 8.902g/cm³. It can be used to make currency, etc. It can be plated on other metals to prevent rust.

Market development

From January to December 2006, China’s cumulative nickel output was 111280.01 tons, an increase of 22.07% compared to the same period in 2005; from January to December 2007, China’s cumulative nickel output was 115772.10 tons, an increase of 8.51 compared to the same period in 2006. %; From January to October 2008, China's cumulative nickel output was 11,2209.99 tons, an increase of 8.99% compared with the same period in 2007.

While China’s nickel industry continues to develop, there are also some problems. For example, nickel mines are mostly of low taste, the proportion of open mining is very small, and the recoverable reserves only account for 10% of the total reserves. The technology of mining and smelting is relatively backward; Generally, weak acid or weak alkali medium flotation process is adopted, with a beneficiation capacity of 4.3 million tons/year; except for several large enterprises, China's nickel smelting generally uses pyrometallic matte smelting technology, and refining nickel mainly uses nickel sulfide anode diaphragm electrolysis and sulfuric acid Selective leaching-electrowinning technology still has a certain gap with the world's advanced technology, so the cost of mining and smelting in China remains high.

In 2010, China's nickel consumption is expected to reach 400,000 tons/year, and China will become the world's largest nickel consumer. In 2010, China's basic nickel metal reserves were only about 2.3 million tons. There has been no significant progress in China's nickel exploration from 2010 to 2013. If consumption continues in this way, China's nickel resources will gradually be exhausted in 10 years.
